Courtney + Mike | Children's Museum of Pittsburgh Wedding

Courtney and Mike are one of my most favorite types of couples: the high school sweetheart variety.  All wedding days are exciting and beautiful- and yes, I still manage to cry at every single one -  but the day seems a little bit sweeter when it brings together a pair of best friends who have seen each other through the crazy of adolescence and came out the other side of adulthood as soul mates.

Courtney and Mike have been together since their Mt. Lebanon high school days, supporting and loving each other from afar while Courtney traveled south to attend the University of Virginia and Mike went to Penn State.  They grew even stronger when Courtney came back up to Penn State for law school, finally getting to tie the knot on this beautiful day at the end of September.

Since many of their friends came from out of state, these two wanted to show off the city of Pittsburgh, with a quirky but elegant wedding at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh.

Katie & Terrance | Seven Springs Wedding

It’s one of those incredible, inspiring love stories that I nearly missed.

My season was already completely booked when Katie contacted me about covering her wedding day. I wasn’t sure if, from a personal commitment standpoint, I could take on another wedding. But there was something in the way she wrote—something in the way she talked about Terrance, that I knew what I had in front of me was incredibly special. I had to be a part of telling their love story.

And I am eternally thankful she and T trusted me to.

Emily + Mike | Sewickley Heights Golf Course Wedding

When applied to personalities, the word "sweet" is overused. In fact, there are a lot of wedding-related words that have become cliched because they fit the situation well-enough that oftentimes we don't make the effort to come up with anything better, sharper, or more authentic.  And so at first thought, it would be instinctive, and quite accurate to say that Emily is sweet.

But its also completely insufficient.

As a bride, it is easy to become wrapped up in the details of the day; to become stressed and anxious over little snags in a dress or flower arrangements. But it takes a special type of person to place the happiness of loved ones above all else on her own wedding day.  There is sweetness, and then there is irresistible goodness, the kind you can't help but start to absorb just from being around Emily, and Mike.

Nicole + Adam | Charlottesville, VA Wedding

They say that a person's sense of smell has the strongest link to memory, but I don’t buy it. Music, that pure hearing and participation in it, can flood the body with memories so rich and raw that no other sense can compete.

Nicole & Adam celebrated music at their wedding.  Built on an incredible cornerstone of faith, music is one of the most important parts of their relationship. They met each other their first year at the University of Virginia because the incredible group, the University Singers, brought them together to create music. Which, incidentally, is where I met them too.
