The ceremony.

It’s the most overlooked part of the wedding day, if you ask me. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the details of the wedding, that the ceremony takes a back seat. It’s a given, after all.

Of course we’re going to get up there and we’ll exchange rings and give a quick kiss, but the real question is are we going to go with the eggshell or linen white paper for the invitations?!

Which is funny, because the ceremony is the whole reason a wedding is a wedding, after all. You invited everyone on those eggshell white invitations to party with you all night because you just made a promise before God and a hundred witnesses that you will love another person until you die.

That’s big stuff.

“I’ve never seen anything like them, from the very moment they met, there’s been something incredibly special about them,” Hanna’s mom said to me at the reception, watching Hanna and Jimmy twirl around the room in each others’ arms. 

Hanna’s mom knew, and so did everyone else at the Willow Room that night, that what Hanna and Jimmy had between them was special.  

Drew broke his foot a few weeks before his wedding, but if you know Drew, then you know that a few broken bones aren’t going to get in his way of marrying the love of his life.

Or dancing. It definitely didn’t stop him dancing. 

I met Drew & Asia when I shot Drew’s sister Carey’s wedding in September of 2014 , and I’m thankful every day that I get to work with beautiful, gracious and loving families like theirs. If these two have set the tone for my 2016 weddings, I know it’s going to be an absolutely incredible season.  

Steph and Tim and their three furkids came to celebrate their engagement with me last week. While getting the three pups to look at the camera at the same time proved elusive, capturing the real, honest love between their humans was not. Steph and Tim make you feel grounded. They make you feel authentic when you are around them. No frills, no fake smiles and no prom poses. When the cloudy day finally broke with golden rays of sunshine for an hour last Monday, we soaked it all up. 

"I'm an ER doctor and he's a punk rock drummer..." was my first introduction to Beth and Pat. Beth joked about how they were an unlikely pair, but it didn't take very long to see that they couldn't be more perfect for each other. In between Pat's European band tours, restaurant managing, and Beth's crazy hectic schedule, I don't know how they're planning a wedding. But they are, and it's an incredible one.
